It was an emotional and proud day for James Peters and his family on Saturday as James carried the Olympic torch along Springfield Road. James was one of 178 torch bearers to participate in the Torch run on Saturday. Others included Barbara Ann Scott, Joey Juneau, Carolyn Waldo and retired General Romeo Dallaire. James plays for the Ottawa West Major Midget B team.

Ottawa West President, Norm Sharpe stated, "James is a very passionate and skilled hockey player whose dedication and commitment exemplify the Olympic spirit. He is an excellent choice to represent Ottawa in this historic event! Congratulations to James and his family."
