On February 25-28, the Minor Atoms took a road trip to Lake Placid to play in the American Cup.  Even though the Knights played up an age group and up a level, they fared extremely well against the tough American competition and came home with the B Championship title.

The Knights had a very tough round robin draw, which included the eventual A Champ and A runner-up.  In the first game the Knights outshot the Canton Bears Gold 16-13 but fell 3-1 in a game where both sides had their chances.  In the next game, the Knights tied the Lawrence Flames 4-4 in an exciting see-saw battle filled with lead changes and ties.  In the final round robin game, the Knights took down the Binghamton Senators 4-0.  In the B Championship game the Knights handily beat the Plymouth Shamrocks 4-1 to take the gold medal (as a precursor to Team Canada's gold medal later that day).

The tournament was a great success for the team and their families who also enjoyed skiing, bobsledding (both real and simulated), skating on the Olympic oval, visiting various Olympic venues and cheering for Team Canada in the final weekend of the Olympics.
